Today, Romeo Durscher left the bounds of earth and now soars among the stars. Romeo has a lasting legacy of advancing public safety drones more than any other person. He traveled the world and showed how drones could enhance public safety in so many ways. He stood by us during disasters, participated in wildfire operations and was personally touched by these experiences. He became a member of the public safety family.
From his family today:
Romeo's energy has noticeably decreased in the last few days and on Monday, March 3, 2025, Romeo fell asleep peacefully surrounded by his family and closed his eyes forever.
We are grateful for the time we spent with him and so we carry him in our hearts 💝
Love, memories, gratitude – they form a wonderful bridge that connects us internally; a bridge that we can cross again and again to be close to each other at every moment.
We miss him so much 😞😞 -
In love his Mom, the brother's Kurt and me, Daniel and Tomoko
Let’s all honor Romeo by continuing to advance public safety drones to save lives and make our communities safer. In the past weeks, Romeo shared his friendships with all his public safety family around the world and how your thoughts, calls and emails energized him and helped him reflect on a wonderful life. Romeo told me to share with everyone to keep looking up to the sky, continue raising the bar and to push forward and help each other.
Romeo shared this photo which will be etched in an award in Romeo’s name to be presented next week at the National Public Safety UAS Conference. See below, one of Romeo’s favorite photos while at the SAR trials on Adamillo Glacier, many years ago.
Godspeed Romeo! Until we meet again!!!
